paul ryan was elected to congress in 1998. that was the conservative if you look at people who clawed their way on the back benches it was people like newt gingrich newt gingrich cracking down on conservatives who want to cut spending. my view of paul ryan believe that traditional path to power it's crucial to the debate. in contemporary political terms i don't see any movement toward the more restrained federal government from democrats. it's clearly not the issue that animates them or really drives them. there was only one democrat who participated in the poll drone filibuster. there was a handful of democrats that were active in getting red of the national defense authorization act. democrats was a minority of democrats in both houses on the paid yacht -- patriot act. i think the direction of the republican party is important. so i talk about the main obstacle. there are numerous obstacles to limiting government that are institutional that are deep in public opinion that have to do with the media. i talk about those in my b
